“The Sunshine EP” is a warm, honest and sinister pop piece from the UK duo The Candle Thieves.
They place together toy-pianos with easy-listening pop onto a plate of joy, sorrow and life.
The 4-track strong EP takes the listener through the anxious toy town of the singer/songwriters who mean business with lines like “I’m sorry, I’m not enough…” and other angst loaded glockenspiel ‘s of life and death.
The EP starts out with the sunny-dark “Sunshine Song” and continues in a toned-down manner and ends on a eclectically sad high – “Lonely Lonely Lonely”.
“The Sunshine EP” is a great debut by anyone’s standards and the Sujfan Stevens influenced pop duo take risks with an emotional outlet that promises and delivers great melodies and honesty.
“The Sunshine” EP is a great, guilty pleasure for everyone.
