Castanets a.k.a. Raymond Raposa is a modern classic or something in that direction. He is a one-man-band who has developed a new take on traditional folk/country music. For many, a modern twist is to add electro beats and sophisticated loopings into songs structures, but not for Raposa. Castanets dwingles in a modern aura and expands every song experience with modern avant-garde intuition and psychedelia book-marks, creating brilliant/simple and unforgettable songs of love and hate with a bluesy atmosphere.
Lately Castanets have packed up Jana Hunter and Red Hunter into his tour line-up as well as produced new songs with the Hunter’s also known as Peter and the Wolf.
Raposa has released 2 full-length record through Sufjan Stevens’ Ashmatic Kitty label.
